What is a Functional Health Coach

A health coach is a professional who helps people assess their current physical and emotional wellness and helps them set goals for what they want to achieve in their overall wellness and health by guiding them to implement changes towards reaching these goals.

Health coaching is a collaboration between the coach and the client to achieve the CLIENT'S health-related goals. Every session and all recommendations are highly personalized to the unique needs and challenges of each client, which means that I have a client-centered approach to the work I do with each individual I serve. I want my clients to not only get well, but to STAY well after their work with me is complete and therefore their buy-in is crucial to the success of the coaching program. I educate, inspire and empower clients to be the CEO of their own health by taking charge of their own wellness and making decisions based on their body and lifestyle.

I take health coaching a step further by applying the principles of Functional Medicine to my practice to give me AND my client deeper insight into what could be driving their symptoms. It is not enough to simply recommend a client eat more broccoli and exercise more frequently (although these are important). My ongoing training as a Functional Medicine Health Coach gives me the tools and know-how to dive deep beneath the surface to figure out what is the root cause of a client's symptoms and over a period of time, guide them through the changes they can make that will help them return to a state of wellness.

Prior to starting a coaching relationship with a client, I thoroughly review the client's Health History and Symptoms Checklist, as well as look at existing lab work to get a full picture of what they're dealing with
